Join us on Wednesday, October 7 in BSB 1115 from 11:30 to 12:30 to hear Rick Perlstein of The Washington Spectator deliver a lecture titled "American Conservatism in the 21st Century."
Rick Perlstein has been called the "chronicler extraordinarire of American conservatism" by Politico. He is the author of three books about the rise of modern convervatism: Before the Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus. New York: Nation Books, 2001, winner of The Los Angeles Times Book Award for history; Nixonland: The Rise of a President and the Fracturing of America. New York: Scribner, 2008, a New York Times bestseller picked as one of the best nonfiction books of the year by over a dozen publications; and The Invisible Bridge: The Fall of Nixon and the Rise of Reagan. New York: Simon & Schuster, 2014. His essays have been published in The New Yorker, The New York York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone, The New Republic and Slate among others. He is a frequent commentator in the media including: National Public Radio, MSNBC and Chicago Tonight.
