Professor B.C. Koh retired on July 1, 2002. Professor Koh received his PhD from Cornell University in 1963. Prior to his time at UIC, he taught at Louisiana State University. Professor Koh spent 37 years in our department teaching on a variety of topics including international organization, international law, and Far Eastern politics. Also, he regularly taught introductory comparative politics and public administration courses.
Professor Koh is the author of many books and journal articles. Among his books are: Korea: Dynamics of Diplomacy and Unification, editor and coauthor, from the Keck Center of the Claremont-McKenna College in 2001; Japan's Administrative Elite, from the University of California Press in 1991; The Foreign Policy Systems of North and South Korea, from the University of California Press in 1984. Koh is one of only a few academic experts on North Korea in the USA today. BC will continue to work full-time, returning to Korea as the director of the Institute for Far East Studies of the University of Masan in Seoul.
