The Washington Post's Wonkblog features a post on research by Alexandra Filindra, UIC assistant professor of political science and psychology, and Noah Kaplan, UIC visiting assistant professor of political science, that found racial resentment is a statistically significant and important predictor of white Americans' opposition to gun control. Filindra and Kaplan found that the contemporary "gun rights narrative is color-coded" and the language of individual freedom is evocative of the white's resistance to black civil rights that developed after World War II and into the 1970s. http://wapo.st/1S3DOg7

Simpson says the Cook County tax assessment system is not good for taxpayers, particularly with law firms connected with state and city politicians representing private firms and citizens before the government in property tax appeals.
