About

My work at the University of Illinois at Chicago has mainly focused on a small-scale democratic practice known as Participatory Budgeting, which seeks to devolve local budgetary decision-making to residents of a particular area.

Since 2012, I have served on the PB Chicago research committee and helped with the development of survey tools, field interviews, and data collection. During the 2013-2014 & 2014-2015 school years I was awarded the university's competitive Abraham Lincoln Fellowship, which allowed me the flexibility, time, and focus to co-author two reports and a published journal article together with Rachel Weber, of UIC's College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, and Thea Crum, at UIC's Great Cities Institute. I am currently a PhD candidate furthering my training in survey research & design while pursuing coursework on data science and programming.
